Flat Creek Restoration Project
The Flat Creek Restoration Project is a cooperative effort between:
The Town of Jackson
Trout Unlimited, Jackson Hole Chapter
Teton Conservation District
Wyoming Game and Fish Department
Jackson Hole One Fly Foundation
FRAZIL ICE & ANCHOR ICE: Anchor ice formation is common in shallow, turbulent streams. Anchor ice becomes a problem when frazil ice crystals are deposited on the river channel bottom during cold periods. Anchor ice builds up on the bottom of the channel causing the water levels to rise and flood upstream.
Project Goals: To reduce the icing and winter flooding of Flat Creek through stream improvements and to eliminate the use of the 'thaw well' system. To restore and sustain ecological habitat and the Flat Creek fishery.
